AEON provides teachers with their own single-occupancy apartment.
The school takes care of securing this apartment and providing basic furnishings.
AEON also pays the key money and deposits, so teachers are able to move in without
having to deal with landlords or rental agents. To start their lives in Japan,
they only need to bring their clothing and personal effects.
Apartments differ in style but typically are about six tatami mats in size. (A
standard tatami mat measures 6 feet by 3 feet.) An apartment of these dimensions
is quite standard for single people in Japan. After they add a few personal touches,
teachers find that it doesn't take long to feel at home in their new accommodations.
Usually apartments are in residential areas with easy access to supermarkets,
convenience stores, dry cleaners and video rental shops.
AEON schools are located near train stations and are therefore close to restaurants,
bookstores, cinemas, sports clubs, parks, and many other places where teachers
can enjoy their time outside of work. Most teachers commute to their schools by
train or bus.
*All AEON apartments are single occupancy only and pets are not allowed.
