Kaoru Mihara (Tokyo, Japan) Manager at Shinjuku I-Land Tower School
Kaoru MiharaIwork as a Manager at Shinjuku I-Land Tower branch school in Tokyo. Managers are required to do all sorts of things: we conduct counseling sessions with students and prospective students, have meetings with teachers, schedule classes, provide support to new teachers, advertise, and send daily, weekly, and monthly reports to our Head Office. Basically, we do almost everything to run the school except teaching.

Teacher care is something AEON tries its best at. Initially, we help new teachers to settle into their apartments and set up their bank accounts, telephones and other things required for living. School staff members are the first people teachers talk to whenever they have questions or problems about the school, culture, or their private lives. Teacher training and support are offered at weekly teachers' meetings.

Since our school is located in the center of the financial area of Tokyo, we have a lot of office workers and business people who are required to use English at work. Our students are interesting and fun-loving people from all over Japan who are eager to learn English and share Japanese culture. Many of the students feel anxiety about whether they can actually acquire English even after they have started studying it. However, every single student has the goal of becoming fluent in English. They always have their goals, their dreams, and the desire to achieve. Teachers need to not only teach the language effectively but also be aware of the importance of their job. It requires a lot of encouragement, responsibility, and awareness of the students needs.

Out of all the language schools I researched when initially looking into a career in English education, AEON seemed to have the most solid curriculum for Japanese people to learn English conversation. Financial stability was another one of the main reasons I chose to work at this company.

Kaoru MiharaOf course the teachers and the management staff have different work to do. But, being a Manager and a former teacher, I really think the common priority for every single employee is to support the students by teaching them, helping them with their training at home, and motivate them not to give up. That is the best and the only way to be a successful school.

I found almost all the teachers quite easy to work with, but those who simply enjoy interacting with people have been the most helpful. They brought good energy to the school, which all the students and staff appreciated.

We are professionals and have high expectations for our teachers. If you would like to have a challenging and enjoyable job, join us!
