Meinohama

Photo of fireworks in Fukuoka Meinohama is a residential suburb in Fukuoka city. It’s a great place to enjoy the slower pace of life, yet have access to all the amenities of a big city. It only takes 20 minutes by subway to get to Hakata station and 13 minutes for Tenjin station, the popular entertainment districts.

Near Meinohama is Momochi, a bustling waterfront park which houses the stadium for Kyushu’s professional baseball team, Softbank Hawks.

If you are looking for a great place to spend a day outside be sure to visit Uminonakamichi Seaside Park or Nokonoshima Island which both have beautiful gardens and flowers which change each season. Great shopping is also easy to find in Canal City, often called “a city within a city.”

Summer is the perfect season in Meinohama because of its famous fireworks festivals. A quick subway stop away from Meinohama is Ohori park where, in the park, there is a beautiful pond that creates a cove. Around August 1, spectators can sit along the pond to watch one of the largest fireworks festivals in Kyushu.
